Hopefully my research will add some pieces of knowledge to the big puzzle that obesity is…..and by visiting schools and meeting the public, I hope more people will know more about obesity and make more informed choices on what to eat and how much exercise to do

Great question! I certainly hope so. We know that two big causes of obesity are poor diets and physical inactivity. Both of these things are lifestyle choices and so can be reversed if people decide too. So the really important questions are why don’t people want to do exercise or eat the best kinds of food. Enjoyment and lack of time are two big barriers that people suggest, so we are looking for ways to include activity into daily lives without having to perform long duration organised exercise, and trying to find foods that have health benefits. Events like this are really important as it gives us a chance to talk to you guys who are the generation that can really make a difference.
