I am about 2 years away from completing my PhD however I am compiling several smaller studies to add to the bigger picture. The first of these was analysing Facebook posts of users of the app I am evaluating. That was completed about 6 months and a couple of weeks ago I just closed an online survey that I still need to analyse. The thing with sceince is though you are never completed! Each research project tends to raise more questions which need more researching to find out the answers!
The fantastic thing about science is that there are always new questions to answer and studies to run. Each question and answer leads to new areas of research and so new goals are always appearing. My current goal since returning to the UK is to build/establish my research group in Birmingham, happily things are going well so far!
I don’t think I will ever reach my goals as when I get near one I just find new ones to aim for. I think there will always be something new to try and understand. Hopefully I have already helped many people as a scientist and a dietitian, but I hope I will never stop learning and finding out new stuff.
great question! I have been in research for few years now and I have answered few questions but I have most definitely created many more!! I use the analogy of science being like a big jigsaw….I have put together few pieces but I am still far far away from completing the all picture…..however my goal (jigsaw picture) is as big as obesity as I try to understand how molecules secreted from the fat tissue can produce changes in part of the body and make some tissue not function properly. My personal goal is to have a group of people working with me on this topic and I am getting there…few PhD students and one research fellow….cannot ask more!!
