      Hello!

It took me a year between 2009- 2010. My mentor almost made me cried as he was seriously questioning my motivation with “DO YOU REALLY, REALLY WANT TO DO THIS? This is not glamorous job you know.” but I know he meant well. Then I went to Switzerland for an intern ship and I hiked the mountain there and I was having the A-Ha moment, so yeah I want to be a scientist!

Quite late actually, mid way through university so i was 20. I went to university with an interest in sport and exercise but didn’t expect to be a scientist. I volunteered to be a subject in some studies that staff and students were running and gradually learnt more about the research process and what a PhD was and involved. I really liked the practical side to exercise physiology and basically testing the things that i had always been interested in (i.e. how and why we respond to exercise). So that made me do a PhD and things have just evolved from there 🙂
