      it is when there is a truama to the nail and it grows out, like a pressure mark form when you have banged your finger on something. They are nothing serious.

      It is a myth that they are effected by mineral deficiencies like iron or calcium. It is exactly as Katie says it is damage to the nail or the nail bed
