      Some people inherit a gene that makes them go bald and others can go bald if they have a condition called alopecia. Stress, ilness and poor nutriton can also lead to hair thinning and falling out.

      In some men this can be an effect of a form of male hormone on the hair cells which leads to male pattern baldness

      I think that a number of factors can lead to baldness, which is why it is a firaly common occurrence in men during ageing. Specific hormones can trigger hair loss, as can stress, poor nutrition and probably one other less well understood genetic factors.
