0 Question: Why does your skin get thinner when your older?? Keywords: ageing, anatomy, skin Asked by diddymus to Andy, Duane, Giovanna, Katie, Theresia on 17 Nov 2014.
Theresia Mina answered on 17 Nov 2014:
there’s less skin regeneration and less collagen produced.. resulting in thin appearance.
Duane Mellor answered on 17 Nov 2014:
Also there is a reduction in the amount of elastic tissue and fat under the skin so thins
Andrew Philp answered on 18 Nov 2014:
Skin is just like every other cell/organ. As we age the cells are less able to regenerate and renew themselves. So skin loses a lot of the elasticity and function that it has in younger individuals.
