At school I really liked physics and chemistry more so than biology and managed to get good grades. When I then went on to study for my A Levels I took Sports Studies and this is where I learnt a lot about science in relation to sport. Thats when I really fell in love with it! I loved PE at school and we learnt a bit about the muscles and energy systems but then we went into way more deatil at A level and some of the teachers that had studied Sports Science at University. I then went on to do the same and the more I learnt the more I enjoyed it. I have a Master of Science degree in Exercise Physiology and have been very lucky to have been able to use this to help some elite athletes to prepare for some major sporting events.
I now use my research and physiology knowledge to understand how physical activity can help inactive people live healthier lives and become fitter.
Hi Harleyhammer7, nice question! I think it’s my teachers blowing my mind away with biology and science project assignment when I was in high school.. I never look back since 🙂
I played a lot of sport at school and was always interested in why i was useless and long-distance events, but good at team-sports. So I took PE at A level and enjoyed the anatomy & physiology aspects. This led to choosing to study sport and exercise science and Uni and then specialising in exercise physiology….
It started with my chemistry lessons at school and blowing stuff up. Then I remember seeing a picture of a starch molecule in a book and that got me interested in nutrition. At the time I played lots of rugby so these linked together well. What followed was an interest in how our bodies use energy which led to an interest in diabetes and weight management which is where I am now.
