Awesome question, it is a complex system of cells forming tissues which make up our organs. Our organs the work together to keep us alive, use energy from food, allows us to think etc. All incredible stuff

I agree with Duane, our body works in a very complex way, but when I was doing my undergraduate I’d like to think the overall aim is to maintain the balance of everything.

Think of the body like a city. Its full of thousands and thousands of cells (people) that have to get on with each other to be happy and survive. Each cell has a function (like a day to day job) and the success of the city/body is a combination of all of these things acting together. Like people, some cells are good and some not so good and the balance of these things is whether you are healthy or poorly.
