• Question: In pregnancy,when you're scanned how can you see the baby with the machine and gel?

      hello Anya,

      The ultrasound machine is generating some wave, which are then reflected back and detected by the sensor. This will create a “picture” of the baby. The gels helps to improve the image quality and also to make it more comfortable for the mum during scanning.

      I think this technology is soooo cool. Its a sound wave that is omitted and then bounces back to the sensor, like an echo, when it hits an object. The machine then gathers this information and pieces it together to make an image.
