It is where a blockage of the arteries that supply the blood to the heart muscle. The blockage can be caused by a clot breaking off (embolism) or from a process called arteriosclerosis where cholesterol is damaged and works it’s way into the wall of the artery. It then gets taken up by white blood cells and then the wall of the artery swells and starts to block the artery which can lead to a heart attack.
