There are 2 main types of diabetes, the thing they have in common is a high blood glucose(sugar). Type 1 diabetes is where someone’s body cannot make insulin, the immune system wipes out the cells in the pancreas that make insulin. The cause is not fully known, it may be linked to a virus tricking the immune system.
Type 2 diabetes is where insulin doesn’t work properly due to something called insulin resistance. This basically tires out the pancreas and insulin starts to run out. This is caused by the combination of the effect of being inactive , overweight and genetics.
