• Question: what causes premature babies?

      There are many causes to prematurity, and it happens most likely due to a variety of these factors: alcohol consumption, cigarettes, physical and psychological stress, infection, some placental anomaly, other underlying disease… We are only beginning to understand pre-term birth, there are many more to do.

      There are many causes as suggested by Theresia, sometimes it is also medical as if the baby is not delivered it may not survive, this could be the case if the placenta starts to fail
