      yes, Vitamin D helps the body to absorb calcium from the diet via the intestine…we can get vitamin D from the food we eat but the body can also synthesize vitamin D in the skin, from cholesterol, when the exposure to the sun is adequate…..its nickname is the “sunshine vitamin”!!!

      Vitamin D is the one linked to calcium, but it’s often forgotten vitamin K (thought to be linked to blood clots and scabs) is also needed to use calcium to make bones strong. Actually most vitamins are needed for really healthy bones and teeth, lack of vitamin C leads to scurvy which causes teeth to fallout, the B vitamins are also needed.
      Vitamin D is the main one as lack of it causes rickets and bones to bow and bend permenantly.

      Vit D. Apparently quite a lot of us are deficient in this so it is important to make sure we get enough of it in our diet to prevent bone mineral problems later in life.
