• Question: why are our lips different to the rest of the skin on our face

      It is as the skin covering them is thinner so the nerve endings are closer to the surface. This allows them to be more sensitive to touch, because of this the blood vessels are closer to the surface so that they are red (also why thy bleed if cracked)

      I think this is due to their need for increased sensitivity. So the skin is thinner than the rest of the face and more blood vessels in the area which gives lips their red colour.
