      The bronchioles, tubes in the lung twitch or spasm when the people is stressed or irritated by dust etc. This makes breathing harder

      Asthma restricts the functional capacity of the lungs, so that its harder to get the same volume of air (and therefore oxygen) into the bloodstream for a given breath. Inhalers contain drugs that free this restriction on the lungs and so can temporarily improve breathing efficiency.
