• Question: why do we have 3oo bones when we are born and 206 bones when were older.

      When we ar eborn some of our bones aren;t fused together properly to allow us to grow. Our skull for instance is in smaller segments until it grows large enough to house the brain safely. Have you ever heard of a baby having a soft spot on the front of their forehead? Thats where there is a gap in the bones of the skull.

      As Katie says, they fuse together, we need more bones so that we can squeeze more easily through the birth canal when we are born. To make bones stronger they then fuse as we grow
