0 Question: Why do we yawn when we are tired? Keywords: tired, yawn Asked by Ben to Andy, Duane, Giovanna, Katie, Theresia on 17 Nov 2014.
Theresia Mina answered on 17 Nov 2014:
When we are tired it is likely that the brain is lacking oxygen. Yawning will help to increase oxygen intake 😀
Duane Mellor answered on 17 Nov 2014:
It is also a behaviour response, as way of signalling as when one person yawns other people start yawning too
Andrew Philp answered on 18 Nov 2014:
Some people think that it is to get my oxygen to the brain, others to get more blood flow to the brain. I’m not sure, but i think there more and more research to suggest that its not directly related to tiredness or boredom

Yawning can also help us stay awake, and can also let in more air.
