Because we develop immunity against it and it works very well because in a nutshell there is only one type of chicken pox virus. But it is recommended that we get one more vaccination booster when we achieve adulthood.

The first time you get chicken pox your body reacts to the virus and over time naturally produces antibodies that gives you immunity to the virus. This then typically protects individuals from catching the virus again.

In some cases you can get it more than once if you maybe didnt have a strong strain of it first time around and your body didn;t fully stregnthen against it. I had it twice growing up! Unlucky for me eh?
