Hair is a protein and in order for it to grow we need to make sure that it is getting the right balance of vitamins and minerals to feed it. SOmetimes if we get ill or stressed the vitamins and minerals are required elsewhere and don’t get to the hair and it can fall out but usually grows back.
Some people also inherit a baldness gene.
